Grand Masters Message

Grand Lodge  A. F. & A. M. Idaho

Brothers, it is hard to believe that I am halfway through my year as Grand Master, it has been an enjoyable year filled with visits and fun.  All the brothers that I have had the opportunity to visit with have extended a most welcome hospitality to both myself and my wife.  This last month has been very busy with visits to lodges and youth activities.  The 74th Annual Exemplification of the Master Masons degree at Portneuf Lodge went well with a very good turnout.  Next year will be their 75th and you need to put it on you calendar now.

As we precede though the remainder of this year, here are a few items that I would like all our brothers to consider.

  1. As an officer of a lodge or Grand Lodge, when you make a decision please tell people why you made it and the reasoning behind it.  It will help everyone to see why the decision was made and reduce conflict.
  2. Make Masonry more family friendly - have lodge activities that involve the wives and children as much as possible, help the families understand masonry and how it affects the entire family.
    1. Get our new brothers out and about to make friends with other masons.
  3. Visit, Visit, Visit - get out to other lodges, lodge activities and youth groups.
    1. I charge each brother to visit at least one lodge or youth group each quarter to promote our fellowship.

There is a website Freemasonuniversity.com that is a good source for information and education.

On May 11th, there will be a Masonic Fellowship Banquet in Boise which is open to all masons, OES, Shrine, Jobs Daughters, and Rainbow etc.  There will be a dinner and dancing at the Owyhee Place (old Owyhee Plaza) in Boise. More information is available from the GL office or your lodge secretary.

The Grand Lodge will be doing a building dedication in Challis on March 23, the Grand Lodge will open at 12:45 PM with the dedication at 2 PM.  I would encourage as many masons to make it as possible.  This is one of the few opportunities for our craft to show the world what we do.

Fraternally
